According to WHO, In 2019, Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. In India, One woman dies of cervical cancer every 8 minutes and every 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. A large number of people are falling prey to deadly diseases like cancer in Haryana. In last three years, a total of 12,091 deaths took place due to various forms of cancer in this state. Breast cancer and cervical cancer continues to threaten women’s health all over the world in recent years. Early detection is essential for its management and treatment. Due to ignorance, fear, and social stigma many women present with stage III or IV cancer which requires surgery and extensive treatment. If detected early, in most cases there will be less aggressive treatment and better chances of recovery. Cervical Cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India. It is the only preventable cancer and it can be detected in the pre - cancerous phase and cured. With respect to this data Department of Amity College of Nursing on the eve of International Womens day Organised and conducted health rally, roleplay and Poster display on Breast Cancer and Cervical cancer at Block development office, Pataudi. .This Programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. A. Tamilselvi, Principal, College of Nursing. and the Awareness programme was executed by B.Sc Nursing 4th sem students under the guidance of Mrs. Swapna M K, Asst. Professor, Amity College of Nursing.
The Programme was Organised and conducted after getting a formal permission from Mr. Rajesh kumar, SDM, Pataudi. On 06 March 2020, at 11.00 Am the Programme started with welcome speech by Mr. Salman, B.Sc Nursing 4th sem student and the event was grced by the presence of Block development Officer, Panchayat Officer, and Zila parishad members. They were honoured with floral welcome by Mrs. Swapna M K, Asst. Professor, ACON and Mr. Naveena J H,Asst. Professor, ACON. After this Health education and role play were conducted by BSc Nursing students for the Public and Mr. Arun kumar, BDO, Pataudi flag off the Health rally which covers almost all wards of pataudi. The BDO and the People of pataudi appreciated our awareness campaign. Mr.Sandeep Yadav, Panchayat Officer expressed gratitude to Amity university, Manesar, Haryana for organising such events.
