The Department of Bioinformatics opened in 2023 at Amity University Punjab integrates Biology, Computer Science, and Information Technology to develop computational tools for analysing biological data. The primary focus of Bioinformatics is to manage and interpret is vast amounts of data from genomic, proteomic, and other biological studies. By creating algorithms and software, the department aims to enhance the understanding of complex biological systems, support drug discovery, and improve personalized medicine. The research areas offered by the department include sequence alignment, structural biology, systems biology, and data mining.
