Programs

  • B.A. (Journalism & Mass Communication) Duration: 3 Years

Geology covers a multitude of subdisciplines, including, but not limited to palaeontology, petrology, structural geology, geophysics, geobiology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, limnology, mineral physics, mineralogy, and tectonics. With the growing risks of environmental and earth-related issues such as global warming, pollution, earthquakes and floods, the prospects of Geology as a discipline have increased a lot.

The Department of Geology offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, focusing on areas such as mineralogy, petrology, palaeontology, sedimentology and geophysics. Students in this department gain hands-on experience through fieldwork, lab research, and internships. The department aims to advance knowledge of Earth systems, addressing environmental challenges, natural resource management, and geohazard mitigation. The faculty members provide a collaborative learning environment and contribute to scientific advancements.

Geology is the scientific study of the Earth, encompassing its materials, processes, and history. It spans various sub-disciplines, including mineralogy, which examines minerals; petrology, which studies rocks; palaeontology, focusing on fossils and ancient life forms; hydrogeology, study of groundwater and geophysics, exploring Earth's physical properties.

Studying B.Sc. Geology with Amity University Punjab provides a platform to investigate plate tectonics, volcanic activity, earthquakes, the formation of mountains, ancient life forms and groundwater related problems . Students in this department also study Earth's resources, such as minerals, oil, and water, and address environmental issues like soil erosion, natural hazards, and climate change. Through fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and modelling, the Department of Geology provides critical insights into Earth's past, present, and future dynamics.
