A Workshop on “Turning Research Ideas into Fundable Projects: A Strategic Roadmap for Crafting Successful ICMR Research Proposals” was organised by AIB on 27th August 2026. The session enhanced participants’ understanding of funding opportunities and helped them identify ways to improve the clarity, relevance, and fundability of their research proposals.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the research capacity of faculty members and researchers by familiarizing them with ICMR research funding schemes, proposal screening and funding mechanisms, and the role of task force panels in proposal evaluation. It also aimed to provide practical guidance on effective grant writing, enabling participants to align their research ideas with suitable funding opportunities and develop clear, relevant, and fundable research proposals.
The workshop provided participants with a structured understanding of the process of transforming research ideas into competitive and fundable ICMR proposals. Dr. Sonam Kumari, Scientist C, Descriptive Research Division, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, explained the available ICMR funding schemes, proposal screening and funding mechanisms, and the role of task force panels in evaluating proposals. She also highlighted essential dos and don’ts of grant writing and provided practical guidance on presenting research ideas in a clear, structured, and persuasive manner.
