Amity School of Fine Arts under Amity Directorate of Applied Arts/ Fine Arts/ Performing Arts & Visual Arts organized an Art Interaction Session on the theme ‘Art Teaching and Practice’ on 3rd April 2019 at F1 Block auditorium. The aim of the session was to discuss and debate alternative methods of art teaching and the changing role of a mentor in the contemporary art scenario. The session began with an address by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Director General, Amity Directorate of Applied Arts, Fine Arts, Performing Arts & Visual Arts. In his opening remarks he stressed on the importance of new pedagogical methods and Education 4.0 and its relevance in present times.
The guest speakers for the day were Ms.Lubna Sen, curator and researcher, Ms. Chetnaa, a freelance artist and Ms. Preeti Kathuria, an independent researcher.
The session started with Ms.Lubna Sen’s crisp presentation about bridging the gap between art institutions and industry’. She stressed on the fact that the changing mode of information technology demands new pedagogical methods to be adopted in institutes so the students are well equipped with current knowledge prevalent in the market.
This was followed by Ms. Chetnaa’s enthusiastic talk and presentation about the role of a mentor in artistic practice. Talking about her own mentor and practice , she focused on the qualities that a good mentor should have to nurture young minds.
The last presentation was by Ms. Preeti Kathuria who presented her views quite emphatically on ‘Beyond the Curriicula- New methodologies in visual art education’ and a dire need to go beyond the four walls of the classroom.

On 27th September, 2017- Amity School of Fine Arts organized a seminar for the students on ‘Industry Expectations from Young Professionals’. The seminar was graced by four eminent and senior personalities from the fine art and advertising field, who spoke about different industry expectations from fresh graduates and also provided tips to students for their future.
Mr. Sanjay Tiwari, Senior Advertising Professional and CEO of Just Branding stressed upon the importance of novelty of ideas and exclusivity in advertising fields and also clarified the misconceptions regarding few coveted job roles, especially the different expectations from Visualizers, Graphic Designers, Copy writers and Content writers. His talk also revealed a growing demand for digital advertising professionals in the field. He also urged students to work on various ideation processes in order to leave an indelible mark in the professional advertising sector.
Prof. Ramesh Kandagiri, Assistant Professor of Painting at Delhi College of Art presented a talk on the theme: ‘Creative Alchemy of Idea, Media and Artistic Karma through Empirical Transcendence: Demands of New Time’. He mainly discussed about the process of creative individuals and urged the budding artists to revisit the concepts of Idea and Media in visual arts. The impermanency of an idea and the controlling factor of a media in use has been criticized in his talk. Artistic Karma according to him is an authentic expression which develops from pulse and impulse.
Ms. Vinita Venugopal, Senior Designer of Dorling Kindersley Printworld, talked about the challenges of Publishing sector. She informed the students about the working process of the industry and the expectations of the recruiters. She elucidated about the importance of portfolios and the methods of presentation. The importance of meeting deadline is also highlighted in her talk, as one of the key factors to sustain and grow in the publishing sector.
Mr. Rajeev Nagar, Country Manager of Viacom India talked about the importance of digital technology to enhance the skills of a modern day artist. He focused on the challenges and the rewards which are offered by the software. The emphasis was on the new age digital marketing and advertising. He urged students to learn the right softwares to meet the new age demand of the industry.

Dr Joshi highlighted the importance of strong industry linkage and asked students to fully capatilize this platform to have valuable inputs showcased by the eminent artists/ guests present for the seminar and have an understanding of industry requirements from trained professionals in the field of Fine Arts
Mr. Veer Munshi – Eminent Artist, while addressing the students, said that Art is a social and aesthetic responsibility and every artist can contribute to it and make a difference in the society though his paintings. He advised students to think freely, creatively and out of box, without relying on Internet and copying the works of others. He told students that there is lot of competition in the market but at the same time, there are opportunities present which provide scope to the students to become what they aspire to.
Mr. Rajeev Prakash Khare - Art Director, Delhi Press addressed the gathering. Through his presentation Mr. Khare showcased the importance of typography industry. He briefed the students about the role of typography and the career avenues related to this industry.
Ms Lubna Sen - Curator& Art Entrepreneur briefed students about the her initiative- “Prarambh” which is the first Art work Festival for students in India and how they can get their works featured in the same. She called upon students to hone their skills in basic drawing and painting and then move forward. She stressed that Skill and Technique are very important in an artwork and even a novice can understand and appreciate the skills and techniques in artworks. She called upon the students to be aware of the world around rather than shutting themselves in cocoons. She motivated them to be professional, push their boundaries and be their authentic self in order to create masterpieces.
Sharing her views, Ms. Shruti Mishra – General Manager, Flag Communication said that organizations choose best out of rest and it’s on students to be best or rest. She remarked that if students choose to be best, there are people eagerly waiting in the industry for young and creative minds. Motivating the students, she said that creativity is subjective and what is best for one person, may beaverage for others. She encouraged them to be happy from within in order to put across their thoughts in a creative manner and be passionate about whatever they do.
Ms. Padmaja Singh -Creative Director, Pathfinders shared that creating Art is a passion, something that people have to do to express them but Art is also a serious industry one can get into with the right attitude and mindset. She stressed that possibilities are there and it is on an aspirant to create abilities in him to reach the level of successful people. She called upon the students to empathize with clients, their needs and imagine using their eyes. She advised them to take up leadership roles and be cheerful to do more in less time since people are remembered for taking up more roles and responsibilities.
Mr. Shajan C Kumar –Creative Director, edu4sure addressed the gathering and emphasized on animation industry. Mr. Kumar also led the focus on structured internship’s to be done by students for better placements opportunities in the industry. He advised students to put their thoughts in creative manner.

Amity School of Fine Arts organized a day long Seminar on "Industry Expectations from Young Professionals" at Amity Campus, Sector- 125, Noida.
Padamshree Prof. Biman Das - Senior Artist; Mr. Pradeip Agarwal – Vice President – Marketing & News Biz, Stratbeans Consulting; Mr. Madhav Joshi – Sr. Cartoonist, BAG Films; Mr. Niloy Sen – Ex Vice President & Executive Creative Director, JWT and Mr. Samudra- Creative Art Director, Kathputlee Animation Studios shared their experiences and motivated the students.
Dr. Pradeep Joshi- Director, Amity School of Fine Arts welcomed the distinguished guests and introduced them to the students.
Sharing his views and thanking Amity for inviting him, Padamshree Prof. Biman Das - Senior Artist said that Fine Arts is a very different programme which involves unbridled Creativity, Imagination and to some extent, Technical prowess. He averred that an Artist needs to have an insatiable urge to create masterpieces in order to be successful. He called upon the students to believe in Art for people's sake and encouraged them to be constantly engaged in researching and creating works of Art, without depending on their mood since a masterpiece could be created anytime. "Art has no limitation and an artist is the master of his creation. The only yardstick through which the success of any art work is gauged, is the adulation it receives from onlookers. ," averred Prof. Das. He advised students to respect their teachers who guide and lead them onto the path of success.
Addressing the students, Mr. Pradeip Agarwal – Vice President, Marketing & News Biz, Stratbeans Consulting defined Design as a "simple solution to a problem" and a Designer as a person who "provides a visual solution to a problem". Advising students on how to become industry ready, he encouraged them to be clear about what they want to achieve in their career. He encouraged them to realize and understand what they are good at and suggested them to master that particular skill rather than trying to become master of all skills. He called upon them to be consistent and pro-active in their approach to scale greater heights in their profession.
Mr. Samudra -Creative Art Director, Kathputlee Animation Studios, referring to the Great Pablo Picasso, quoted "Every child is an Artist, the problem is staying an Artist when you grow up". Sharing a NASSCOM Report, he stressed that Animation Industry is bound to grow 22% every year and trained and talented people will be required to fill the job vacancies in this industry.
Highlighting the Advertising and Communication aspect of Fine Arts, Mr. Niloy Sen – Ex Vice President & Executive Creative Director, JWTstressed that creativity is breaking away from stereotypes and it has no parameter. "Just create, you may falter sometimes but no one could really judge your work", opined Mr. Sen. Talking about advertising campaigns of various brands, Mr. Sen said "In Advertisements, content is important but more important is how that content is put across. The message in advertisements needs to be crisp and without any metaphors or jargons to be able to catch the attention of target audience", stressed Mr. Sen. He advised the students to think and observe things differently to be able to create masterpieces and motivated them to always take pride in their creations.
