The team Amity Institute of Technology consisting of Aman Singh, Subir Garg, Rishabh Nagpal, Jyotirmai Sharma and Aditya Shankar under the Guidance of Prof. Ravi Prakash, HoI, AIT participated in Innovative design and project competition and displayed their idea/ product during the expo organized as a part of International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Leadership -2018. The team presented following 3 ideas through poster presentation and a few models.
- Smart battery management system- a BMS system to be designed and used in Electric vehicles and hybrids to optimise battery life and range in order to the future of mobility more consumer and environment friendly
- Aerodynamic profiling of Future vehicles- how to change the design and profile in order make cars more efficient and cheaper.
- 3D Metal printer- An existing technology useful for fabricating parts. This helps in saving wastage of material in traditional processes of manufacturing like machining and grinding etc. The precision of these machines are also increasing as it is evolving. /li>
The team won the 3rd Prize. There were 65 teams and AIT students were 3rd out of 65 teams.

The Auto Expo 2018 was held at two different venues as Auto Expo 2018 - Vehicles which was scheduled from 9 to 14 February 2018 at Greater Noida and Auto Expo 2018 - Components scheduled from 8 to 11 February 2018 at Hall 7A-H, 8-12A and Lake Hanger (A,B and C), Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.
About the contest:About the expo:
"Weaving Synergies - Spot the Innovation" contestwas organized during the Auto ExpoComponents 2018 by ACMA, CII and SIAM. The contest allowed teams of five students from colleges all over the country to hunt through an exclusive display of components, by 1200 participants from over 20 countries, spread over 60,000 square meters for innovations made by the companies in the automotive sector. The participating teams were then required to present the spotted innovations to a panel of judges on the 3rd day of the Expo i.e. 10th February 2018.
Participation:
Over 65 engineering students from 13 colleges participated at the events along with their faculty. Two teams from Amity Institute of Technology were sent to participate in the event with the support of Prof. Vivek Kumar, Head of Department, Automobile Engineering, AIT. Experience and Learning:
- Day 0 – The participating teams from all the colleges were required to attend a briefing session before the competition on the 7th of February, 2018. On this day, the teams were explained the rules and procedures of the contest and we all met the competing teams. We also looked at the venue and prepared a strategy for covering all the halls.
- Day 1- We visited halls starting from Lake Hanger A, B and C where we saw manufacturers from China, Korea etc. followed by 7A-H and 8 whose highlights were the German Pavilion and Key Safety Systems Pvt. Ltd.
- Day 2- The second day was spent covering Halls 9-12A wherein there were stalls about Hybrids and Hybrid technologies including the UK pavilion. Other major highlights included Texspin and Elofic. Various innovations were identified in these halls.
- Day 3- The innovations spotted were short-listed for the presentation and the required documents were prepared and submitted. Team I presented an advanced ADAS system, Ceramic bearings and an E-Booster technology while Team II presentedLithium Ignition amongst others. Shortly after the teams finished presenting the innovations spotted by them, the Jury declared the much-awaited results.

The winning team received an AMD Radeon Graphics Card for each member along with the certificates. All teams were given participation certificates.
