PISTON LEAGUE
Date: 18/09/2018
Time: 1:00 PM-5:30 PM
The first gaming event at Amity University for Racers was organized on 18th September 2018 from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
Total 58 students participated from various institutes of Amity University, Noida including ASET, ABS and AIP etc. It was held on the occasion of Engineering Day and the Gamer’s Day. The games (Simulation Racing Games) that were played required high concentration and good practical driving knowledge and thus were not mere games but a learning experience which taught students how actually the high-performance cars are driven and the difficulties that come with it.
Future plan for Distribution of Funds:
- Three Aeromodels for national/ college level competition
- Two Remote control (RC) cars which would be nitrogen powered for the students’ participation in national/college level competition and exhibitions.

AMITY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Event : Piston craft Showcase
The Students of second year from Amity Institute of technology organised a lecture on 11th October 2017 for the first year students about the IC Engines. Seniors also showed a real engine in order to explain the contents more clearly. The students participated in the event with great enthusiasm and gained knowledge about the working of IC engine.

Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition at IIT Bombay
Date: - 3-6 Jan, 2020
The members of Piston Craft, the Technical Society of Amity Institute Of Technology participated in Boeing Aeromodelling Competition held at Techfest 2020 in IIT Bombay. Our team (Team ID: BA-69898456) with
Rajat Tyagi (Team Leader)
Sukriti Sharma (Pilot)
Niharika Bidani

We designed and fabricated a fixed wing aircraft system named as Peregrine Falcon with delta wing to provide great lift and stability. The theme for the competition was Payload Carrying Capability and stability in manoeuvring.
The arena was in an open ground. There were three rounds in the competition.
A. Abstract Selection
B. Qualifier Round
C. Main Round
The team accomplished in making the fixed wing drone following all the rules and guidelines. All the parameters like its Thrust to Weight ratio were under provided data to fly for the competition. Team qualified in the first round, getting approval to fly its drone in competition.
The aim of the qualifier round was to select top 30 teams to the Main Round in which the aim was to carry payload in accordance to the payload capacity of the drone. The golf balls i.e. payloads (of weight - 45g, diameter 43mm) were used as payload and were provided by the organizers during competition. The aircraft was supposed to fly for a minimum time of 30 seconds. The aircraft then was tested to land with the entire payload in it.
2200kv BLDC motor was used to provide thrust of 900gm. Servo motors were used to control the control surfaces (rudder and elevator). 30A ESC (Electric Speed Control) was also used to tune the speed of the BLDC motor. Also, CT6B Transmitter Full range 2.4GHz 6-channel radio was used to control the aircraft. The aircraft was designed in order to support crash properties so that, during landing core structure of the aircraft will not be affected.
The team achieved great knowledge in designing and fabricating Peregrine Falcon. It was amazing being the part of the competition and flying between one of the top teams participating from all over the nation. The team got appreciation and participation certificates with lots of great learnings and motivation to be there and win the competition for the next time.
Piston-Craft, is a technical society of Amity Institute of Technology which is in collaboration with Tata technologies. The club is constituted by the students of AIT and the group has been working actively in workshops, innovative projects and competitions.
Some of the successful events that were conducted by the piston-craft club members are 1.Q-Carentine, the online sketching competition held from23rd April 2020 to 2nd May 2020 in which the participants posted their unique designs on ‘Cars of the future’, Electric commercial vehicle (Bus or trucks),Stealth copters / Drones / planes. It was an introductory workshop to give an insight into the world of tuning and motor sports to the participants.
2.Tuning 101 : Another event was online workshop ‘Tuning 101’ to give information about the ins and outs of an engine management system and give them a necessary head start in the industry of ECU calibration and tuning.
3.Model Rocketry’ : Piston-Craft also conducted online 2 days workshop named as ‘Model Rocketry’ for designing and simulation of rockets. The members of Piston Craft also participated in Boeing Aero-modelling national
4.Competition held at Techfest 2020 in IIT Bombay in which they designed and fabricated a fixed wing aircraft system named as Peregrine Falcon with delta wing to provide great lift and stability. The theme for the competition was Payload Carrying Capability and stability in manoeuvring.
