E-Waste Awareness Campaign for a Sustainable Future
OPPO India in partnership with All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) extended a ‘Generation Green’ campaign to Amity University Jharkhand (AUJ). This nationwide electronic-waste (e-waste) awareness drive recognizes Amity University Jharkhand as an ‘Eco-Conscious Champion Institute’ under the programme. As part of the first leg, OPPO India and AICTE promoted green skills among youth by offering internships across colleges in India. Over 9,000 students from over 1,400 institutions applied for these internships, and 5,000 were selected. The second leg educates youth about the increasing challenge of electronic waste management, including disposing discarded wires, mobile phones, chargers, and batteries, to ensure a sustainable future.
The ceremony at Amity University Jharkhand was graced by Dr Ashok Kumar Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of Amity University Jharkhand, Shri Yatinder Kumar Das, IFS, Additional PCCF, Van Bhawan as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Shri Rakesh Bhardwaj, Head of Public Affairs at OPPO India, Shri Mahadev Toppo, Tribal Researcher and Social Activist, among others. The students from Amity University Jharkhand and neighbouring schools presented a diverse range of activities - such as Nukkad Natak, poster-making competitions, best-out-of-waste crafts, and other performances - to raise awareness about the responsible management of e-wastes
