A Guest Lecture on ‘Cloud Computing Service Model: SaaS’ was organized by Amity Institute of Information Technology (AIIT), Amity University Jharkhand on Friday. Mr. Sovit Kumar, Senior Cloud Consultant Oracle Consulting Solution Center, Noida, U.P was the key speaker.  

Addressing the participants, Mr. Sovit Kumar said, “Cloud Computing is a model for enabling convenient, on demand network access to a shared pool of configuration computing resources like networks, servers, storage, applications and services that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. The cloud model promotes availability and is composed of three service models namely SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.” 

Explaining further about these service models, he highlighted software as a service wherein applications are delivered as a service to end-users over the internet. Citing an example of platform as a service, he mentioned application development and deployment platform delivered as a service.  

Dr. Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand suggested the engineering students from the AIIT to opt respective field in the second year and start doing small projects with faculty members. “Don’t allow your talent to be misused,” he quoted.   

Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand and Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand blessed the participants on this occasion. The event ended with the vote of thanks.
