Amity University, Jharkhand marks Engineer’s Day
Marking the Engineer’s Day, Amity University, Jharkhand held a Guest Lecture on ‘Engineers for A Self-Reliant India’ today. The aim of the event was to make participants understand the contribution of engineers in shaping of global history and the future possibilities.
It started with the welcome address by Dr. Biswarup Samanta, Assistant Professor, PC-EAS, Amity University Jharkhand.
Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand encouraged the students for finding innovative solutions and said “Engineering is a passion as well as profession. We understand the current situation has come out of creating vaccine which is a product of science and technology. We are living in the best times which includes luxury and technology.”
(Dr.) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand talked on how in 19th century Hyderabad the Nizam asked one of the engineers ‘Visvesvaraya’ to find a solution for flood which affected the livestock and Visvesvaraya developed block system and drainage system.
Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand encouraged the team for organizing the event every year.
Speaker Gurdeep Singh, Prof. and Head, Centre of Mining cum Department of Environmental Science and Engineering focused on how science is about doing, and engineering is about knowing. He highlighted PM Narendra Modi’s speech on last Independence Day wherein climate change, hydrogen fuel and electric fuel. He shared his experience of how he researched on mine water during his Ph.D. days in ISM, Dhanbad. Mine water is hard but can be used for various daily purposes like irrigation. Also, he shared examples on how he managed the water level in Vinoba Bhave University as Vice Chancellor.
Another speaker Mr. Anurag Kirti, Location Campus Lead Global Campus Hiring Team, Wipro. He emphasized on the potential of technology and encouraged the students by saying “Engineering is not restricted to books but also solving real time problems.”
