Amity University has developed many technologies for the benefit of the farming community and the society. Some of the flagship technologies are
- Rootonic i.e. Piriformospora indica is a root endophyte
- It enhances the growth and yield of a wide range of crops
- It helps plants to combat biotic and abiotic stresses in the field
- Industry has taken up this technology for wider dissemination
- Agriphotovoltaic combines food crops and solar photovoltaic panels
- This technology enables improved land use which can enhances the income of farmers
- Agriphotovoltaic increases the efficiency of solar panels by reducing the temperature due to water transpiration from crops
- It enables smart cleaning and irrigation system using solar water pump
- Amity University has designed and developed Agriphotovoltaic technology by combining food crops and solar photovoltaic panels
- An optimized design of 10KW & 2KW solar power plants on the agricultural land has been installed in Amity University.
- Complete software modeling was done for optimized distance within each panels and the height of the solar panel to get the maximum outcome with minimum shadow effect on the crops.
- It works on the principle of direct evaporative cooling and does not require any electricity or power to operate
- All the materials required to make the cool chamber are available easily and cheaply which makes it an extremely low cost technology
- It does not require any specialized skill as the cool chamber is kept saturated with water either by sprinkling once in the morning and once in the evening
- The cool chamber can reduce the temperature by 10 to 15oC and maintain high humidity of about 95% throughout the year
- It can be easily adopted by the small scale farmers
- It is a simple low cost technology for postharvest management cold storage using simple air conditioning systems.
- The low temperature is maintained to preserve the perishable fruits and vegetables by reducing metabolic activity and water loss.
- This also helps to reduce postharvest diseases and increase shelf life.
- Amity University has developed nanozinc powder which can be applied through foliar spray.
- Foliar Zn sprays on food crops growing on low Zn soils offer a practical and useful solution for an effective biofortification of food grains with Zn.
- Majority of Indians have cereal based diet, so zinc deficiency is widespread in Indian population.
- Foliar Zn application approach can be locally adopted for increasing dietary Zn intake to tackle women and children for Zn malnutrition.
- Amity has identified several potential fungal bioagents'the core component' against insect pests, pathogenic fungi and root-knot nematode causing serious plant diseases.
- The fungal agents Viz. Trichoderma, Beauvaria, Paecilomyces have been formulated and tested at farmers' field.
- Solar assisted package of IPM consisting of biopesticides and biofertilizer integrated with vermicompost have been developed for various crops.
- The packages have showed excellent result both in quality and also in yield of paddy in western U.P.
- The adoption of the above package in farmers' fields for continuous 3 to 4 crops has proved a remarkable improvement in soil, plant and ultimately human health by minimizing the accumulation of toxic pesticides in the body and blood.
- Natural and eco-friendly herbal mosquito repellent formulation suitable for rural areas has been developed.
- The formulation has long lasting effect and is very cost effective.
- The Amity University developed many value added food products utilizing different cost-effective approaches.
- Iron and calcium fortified potato and ginger chips have been developed.
- Nutritious breakfast food in the form of meat-coated cereal flakes have been developed (for example sapota, pear and papaya).
- Successfully developed various biodegradable films and coatings suitable for packaging fruits, vegetables, and confectionary products.
- Successfully developed tomato concentrate using the whole tomato fruit inclusive of skin and seed using low-cost technology.
- Successfully developed green tea effervescence tablet
