  • Biodegradable Plastic transferred to MNC GXT Green Inc., Boston Considering the adverse effect of plastic on the environment as a major pollutant, Scientists at Amity University have developed a breakthrough biodegradable plastic which would have a great impact on the health of Global Citizens. The Biodegradable Plastic developed by the scientists, can decompose within 60 days. The plastic has been made with indigenous resources which are cost effective. It has a shelf-life of 4-5 years. But when discarded, these will decompose in around two months in soil condition. The manufacturing cost of biodegradable plastic will be Rs 150 per kg. The Biodegradable plastics developed with MFI ranging from 8-18 and are durable at temperatures from 160-200°C. It has simple chemical process and an easier manufacturing procedure. It is economic, PLA free, environmental friendly and raw material available in plenty

  • Magic Fungus ‘ROOTONIC’, a plant root fungus developed at Amity, which has close to ‘magical’ benefits for crops transferred to M/ s. Sinon (Taiwan based company) “Rootonic- the Magic Fungus”- a unique innovative product developed which aids in early seed germination, provides resistance against diseases, improves soil fertility and boost the growth of the plant. It also increases abiotic stress tolerance of the plants and enhances yield significantly.

  • A team of scientists at Amity University has developed a Herbal Mosquito Repellent with good fragrance to serve both the purposes. It will not only prevent from mosquito bites but will also provide good fragrance and keep the environment smoothing. Amity’s Mosquito Repellent can be supplied to the soldiers posted in forests, swampy areas and in submarines. Mosquito repellents play a significant role in this process. Most of these repellents are chemical based which have got its own challenges; however Amity’s Mosquito Repellent is a herbal based product which is efficacious and has good fragrance. It is a poly herbal preparation. This technology has been licensed to M/s Tarini Herbal Company, Delhi, who is already manufacturing incense sticks.

  • Process for decolorization and photocatalytic removal of organic pollutants and dyes present in real effluent of textile and dyeing industry transferred to Dew Specialty Chemicals Amity Institute of Nanotechnology has developed a waste water treatment technology to test and treat waste water generated from textile and dyeing industry. The pilot plant will be set up in the institute itself. Conventional Textile and Dyeing Industry generates toxic pollutants and sludge and their disposal in landfills leads to leaching out of chemicals in air and ground water, causing grave threat to human wellbeing. The technology developed by Amity scientists using Photo-catalytic reactor is Clean, Green, Sludge free, Highly efficient and Cost effective which will completely revolutionize the way waste treatment industry has been functioning in India

  • A novel room temperature, low cost, alarm based LPG sensor transferred to Realty Automation & Security Systems Pvt. Ltd.In order to detect the gas leakage from the LPG cylinder Amity University has developed a low cost LPG Sensor Technology using nano-material based sensing film. The sensor is highly sensitive to gas detection and is useful for the detection & quantification over wide range of concentrations ranging from 40 ppm to more than 1000 ppm of at ambient temperature/condition. Its portability adds to the advantage of using this sensor for real time detection. The system detects the leakage using gas sensor giving the light signal, buzzer and alerts the consumer about the gas leakage by sending SMS. The system uses the GSM to alert the person about the gas leakage via SMS on mobile phone. This technology has been transferred to M/s. Realty Automation & Security Systems Pvt Ltd (RASS), Pune which is into providing electronic safety, security, surveillance & automation solutions to customers.

  • Milk Adulteration Kit transferred to M/s Everest Industries Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad Scientists have developed India’s first hand held and chemical free “Milk Adulteration Testing Kit” which can easily detect milk adulteration within 10 seconds. The kit is non-hazardous, cost effective, transportable, user-friendly with no requirement of elaborate laboratory set-up. It is a hand held kit which can be used by anyone easily without any skill/training. The Kit can easily detect the levels of Starch, Detergent, Urea, Peroxide, Sulphates etc. being mixed in milk. The Kit has already been used to detect adulteration in fresh and packaged milk.

  • Novel extraction procedure for dark colored herbals transferred to Shubh Laxmi Industries. The invention relates to a novel, safe and eco-friendly method for preparing herbal colour compositions for cosmetic and food applications. The herbal compositions contains colorants extracted from plants like rhizome of Curcuma longa, leaves of Hibiscus rosasinensis and seeds of Bixa orellana and binding agents from Cassia tora, Cassia grandis and Sesbania bispinosa for use in food and cosmetic application.

  • Amity University has developed the Iodine Base Finger print powder for developing Latent Fingerprint. It is a simple and low cost method for developing latent finger print by the use of finger print powder. The fingerprint developed by using this technique fades at least after seven days and can be redeveloped. The technology has wide application for Police force, Private detective agencies, Defence forces, Insurance Companies investigating claims and Crime Investigation Agencies. This technology was transferred to Pyramid Cyber Security and Forensic Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.

  • A Rechargeable Battery System from Fly Ash transferred to M/s Welspun Energy Pvt. Ltd The present invention relates to the method for the preparation of a rechargeable battery from the waste material including wood ash and discarded activated carbon based battery and also comprises aluminium anode, amorphous carbon with graphite as a cathode and wood ash mixed with water in 2:1 ratio as an electrolyte. The application of the rechargeable battery can be used for mobile charging / lighting source or for other general purposes.
