Basic Electrical Engineering Lab is taught in first year of all undergraduate engineering streams. This Lab gives the practical learning of use of various instruments like Multimeter, Oscillscopes, Wattmeters etc. Along with this they do practical verification of various electrical theorems, Tests on Transformer, measurement of power in three phase circuits using wattmeter etc.
The laboratory assists the students to impart them with essential knowledge of electronic circuit design and fault analysis. This lab engages students in the real-world application of circuit designing principles in the laboratory. In this laboratory they have enhanced hands on experience to design different electronic circuits with bread boards and with different active & passive components. The experiments covered in this laboratory are synchronized with its theoretical part, so that students might be able to understand the practical aspects of it.
This lab is fully equipped with wide varieties of transducers and sensors available. This lab is mainly to learn about the basic operations of sensors and the process where it might be used. In this, sensors and transducers are studied with a deep understanding of the working principles and are practically realized. Not only their working, but also conditioning of signals and displays are studied. These sensors and signal conditioning circuits are then implemented in various projects and real-time applications.
Electrical Machine laboratory is designed for 2nd year and 3rd year under graduate students. In this course, students can perform experiments on Single phase transformers, Three phase transformer, DC motor, DC generators, Inductions motors, and Synchronous machines. The lab has moderate machines and students are using for project and research work also.
The power electronics lab gives broad idea of power electronics circuits and their application. In this lab students get practical exposure to circuit design. Lab includes various kits for students to work in this area on converters, inverters, AC voltage controllers, Choppers, and its various applications. The laboratory course provides instruction in general lab practices, measurement methods, and with the design and operation of several common circuits relevant to the field of power electronics. It also provides experience with common components such as motors, batteries, magnetic devices, and power semiconductors.
To give industry exposure to undergraduate and postgraduate students, the department of EEE has a well-established Process Control lab. The lab is equipped with modern equipment and meeting the need of teaching as well research. Some major experiments are temperature control, pressure control, cascade control, level control, ratio control, feed-forward control.
For understanding of power systems, one needs to understand all aspects of power systems like generation, transmission and protection. The lab is designed to teach students the functioning of Power Systems and its behavior in various conditions. This lab is equipped with advanced trainer kits for example generation trainer kit- for performing experiments on electrical generator side, transmission kit- for understanding the behavior of transmission line under various conditions like lightly loaded conditions, under faults, under various stages of compensation, Protection kits- for programming of latest numerical relays used in protection.
In the Control Systems Laboratory, students engage in hands-on experimentation to explore the principles of control theory. Through practical exercises and projects, they learn to design, simulate, and analyze various control systems, gaining valuable insights into system dynamics and performance optimization. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students develop critical problem-solving skills and emerge with a practical understanding of control engineering concepts essential for real-world applications.
Further, to promote applied learning, multi- disciplinary learning, industrial relevance and innovation leading to entrepreneurship, the department of EEE has Amity Quanser Centre of Core Competence.
