Two Day International Conference on Challenges and Opportunities in Biotechnology begins at Amity University Jharkhand
Ranchi 11/11/2021: A Two-Day International Conference on ‘Challenges and Opportunities in Biotechnology (ICCOB) 2021’ commenced at Amity University, Jharkhand organized by Department of Biotechnology on Thursday, 11th November 2021 to provide a global platform for discussion of recent advancements, present and future challenges in Biotechnology in addition to enlightening lectures, exceptional keynote speeches together with competing posters and oral sessions. Dr. Amit Kumar Dutta, convenor of this International Conference ICCOB 2021 gave welcome address of the inaugural function. Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University, Jharkhand in his inaugural address said that organizing such an International event gives a good opportunity for all having interest to contribute in this field in such global platform as provided by this conference. Professor (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Jharkhand, and Professor (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University, Jharkhand conveyed their blessings on this occasion.
Addressing the inaugural session, Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker Dr. (Mrs.) K. Vivehananthan, Head, Department of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, The Open University of Sri Lanka expressed her pleasure in representing from a neighboring country of India. She wished the organizing members for a successful conference ahead. She later presented a paper on A New Era in Modern Biotechnology: Challenges of Pathogen Discovery and Prevention Strategies in the technical session.
Dr. Arti Shanware, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, India during her introductory remarks in the inaugural function highlighted the significance of the discipline of biotechnology in addressing the challenges of life and ecosystem supporting life.
“It is indispensable for all domain of scientific study to consider incorporating facts and applications of Biotechnology along with nanotechnology to address the research problems” as stated by Dr. Jayeeta Chattopadhyay, University Coordinator of Research and Development, Amity University, Jharkhand.
Keynote Speaker Professor Piotr A. Ziolkowski, Professor, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland emphasized on Crossover control in plants, towards new crop breeding strategies through his deliberation.
The technical sessions during the post lunch period had keynote speeches from Prof. Malik Yousef, Associate Professor, The Head of the Galilee Digital Health Research Center (GDH), Zefat Academic College, Department of Information System, Zefat, Israel. He presented his research paper on Application of Biological Domain Knowledge Based Feature Selection on Gene Expression Data and Dr. Vinay Kumar, Associate Professor, Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune, India continued discussing on his paper on miRNA Biotechnology for Developing Climate-smart Crop.
The event was moderated by Dr. Nimmy Srivastava, Dr. Shilpa Prasad and Dr. Rahul Kumar of Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Jharkhand.
