Amity University Jharkhand Organized a one-day National Seminar on Child Rights and Child Protection
A one-day national seminar was organised by Amity Law School, Amity University Jharkhand on 18th July 2021. The event was based on the theme Child Rights and Child Protection vis-a-vis International Human Rights and Humanitarian Laws. The aim of the event was to generate awareness about the rights of children and how treatment of children impacts their psychological development and somehow impacts the nation’s future development.
The keynote speaker of this event was Hon’ble Justice Mr. Talwant Singh, Delhi High Court.
He beganhis speech with a quote Nelson Mandela: “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way it treats its children.”
He talked about his experience in the villages of Punjab where he witnessed the conditions in which children were getting their education and how it impacted their perception about the world. He also emphasized on how the government is focusing on skills development opportunities for these children.
Several other eminent speakers shared their thought about the child abduction and how it can be prevented. One of the panelists Dr. Girjesh Shukla, Dean Academic affairs & Associate professor, HPNLU, Shimla said, “At tender age a child’s mind is preoccupied with dreams and he is incapable of understanding the world.” Another speaker Dr. Madhuker Sharma, Deputy Director & Associate Professor, Lloyd Law College, Noida with reference to the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 said, “Government of India has taken visionary steps towards child protection.”
Dr. Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ajit kumar Pandey, Director and Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand encouraged the organizers and thanked the speakers. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Mrityunjay Mayank.
