Amity University Jharkhand organized an interactive session on the topic “COVID-19 Myths Busted”on 14th May 2020.  We are presently passing through challenging times posed by the second wave of the COVID19 pandemic across the country.This online panel discussion was conducted as an extension activity with the essence of bringing awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic and get rid of any misconceptions and myths related to it.

The chief guest of the online session was Dr.Anant Sinha, CEO of Dev Kamal Hospital. Dr. Anant has been working tirelessly for the past several months to provide the best health care facilities to the people to fight this pandemic. His motive was to tell about the common mistakes that people make and how to avoid them by taking some physical steps to be on our guard which he very successfully fulfilled.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand, Prof. (Dr.)Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand, Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand.

The Guest speaker of the session, Dr. Anant Sinha spoke verbosely on the topic explaining in depth the origin, causes and treatment of this infectious disease that has infected the entire planet and left many in shambles. He explained that Covid-19 can be prevented by taking regular gargles and steam, washing our hands and using disinfectants, consuming warm liquids and sanitizers instead of gloves. He acknowledged how dangerous false information spreading by word of mouth or whatsapp can be and thus it’s essential for one to be well informed.

Dr. Soni Tripathi, Pathologist at Dev Kamal Hospital too shared her inputs in detail in the form of  a power point presentation and explained in depth about the tests and procedures that are necessary for one to identify the disease and what should be done by illustrating the correlation between the CT value and severity of the disease.

The discussion was extremely relevant and illuminating as conducted by both the speakers who spoke at length on the given topic, especially when today this has even become a personal issue to many. The meeting was then concluded by an interactive question and answer session and all the proceedings took place smoothly making this event an absolute success.
