Day 1: In Mental Health Week, the Department of Psychology organised a series of engaging events designed to raise awareness and promote mental well-being among students and faculty. The day's activities included a Rangoli Competition, Slogan Writing Competition, Poster Making Competition, and a Drawing Competition. These creative outlets provided participants with a platform to express their thoughts, feelings, and reflections on mental health through art and the written word.
The competitions encouraged participants to think critically about mental wellness, fostering meaningful discussions and reflections on the significance of mental health in daily life. The vibrant display of creativity underscored the power of expression in breaking down barriers and building a deeper understanding of mental health issues.
Day 2: The focus of Day 2 was on learning, communication, and awareness, with a series of insightful talks led by experts in the field. Dr. Damanjit Kaur, Founder and Director of Faith Hospital, along with Dr. Anjali Gulati and Ms. Priya, spoke candidly about the challenges surrounding mental health, addressing the stigma often associated with seeking help. They emphasised the urgent need for accessible mental health services and the importance of integrating mental health care into primary healthcare systems. Their discussions highlighted the barriers preventing individuals from reaching out for support, and the need for a compassionate approach to mental health that fosters an environment of trust and openness.
A Sign Language Workshop was also conducted by Srishti Pandey providing attendees with essential knowledge about non-verbal communication, especially for individuals with hearing impairments.
Day 3: Day 3 of Mental Health Week brought the focus back to creative expression with performances that highlighted the importance of mental health in daily life. Engaging skits illustrated key aspects of mental health challenges, particularly in workplace settings, while soulful music performances captured the audience’s attention and evoked deep emotional responses. The day also featured a Mental Health Quiz, testing participants' knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, further reinforcing the week’s theme of awareness and education.
Together, these events created a comprehensive platform for raising awareness, fostering understanding, and promoting mental wellness within the university community.
