Amity School of Architecture and Planning, Amity University Punjab, marked the 137th birth anniversary of the visionary architect Le Corbusier with a series of enriching activities that celebrated his monumental contributions to modern architecture. The event highlighted Le Corbusier's influence, particularly his work in shaping the city of Chandigarh. As part of the celebration, students presented projects focused on solar buildings, exploring sustainable design solutions inspired by the architect's principles of functional and environmentally responsive architecture. These student presentations offered a modern interpretation of Le Corbusier’s work, emphasising the relevance of his ideas in today’s context of sustainable design.
The event also featured a screening of the documentary The Power of Utopia: Living with Le Corbusier in Chandigarh, directed by Karin Bucher and Thomas Karrer. To further engage students, a quiz competition on "The Life of Le Corbusier & the Making of Chandigarh" was held, testing participants’ knowledge of the architect's legacy and his enduring impact on architecture and urban planning.
Amity School of Architecture and Planning continues to uphold high academic standards, fostering a deep sense of cultural and professional responsibility among its students. This event marks the 7th successful industry-academia bridging initiative of the semester, connecting contemporary architectural practices with the historic modernist legacy of 1954 and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chandigarh. Through such events, the university is creating valuable opportunities for architecture and interior design students to explore innovative solutions, expand their knowledge, and contribute meaningfully to the ever-evolving fields of architecture and design.
