Amity School of Architecture and Planning, in collaboration with the Fire & Safety Association of India (FSAI), organised a distinguished Expert Lecture on fire safety and its integration into architectural and interior design practices. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rajesh Shirka, Youth Development Officer at FSAI and a former Naval Architect based in Mumbai. His session focused on the critical role of fire hazards and safety measures in shaping architectural and design solutions, offering invaluable insights for students pursuing degrees in architecture and interior design.
Mr. Shirka’s talk provided a comprehensive overview of fire safety protocols and how these essential measures can be seamlessly incorporated into design processes. His practical demonstration emphasised the importance of understanding fire risks and designing spaces that prioritise safety while maintaining aesthetic and functional appeal. This session was particularly relevant as it connected theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, highlighting the significance of fire safety in creating secure living and working environments.
The lecture was the 7th event of the semester under the School's ongoing industry-academia bridging initiative, which aims to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry practices. The initiative provides students with opportunities to engage with professionals, gaining exposure to current trends and challenges in the architecture and design sectors. Through such initiatives, Amity School of Architecture and Planning helps students enhance their knowledge, explore innovative design solutions, and contribute meaningfully to the fields of architecture and interior design.
