The Amity School of Engineering and Technology at Amity University Punjab successfully organized a national-level workshop titled “Embracing Diversity: Expanding Research Perspectives in Computer Science (ERPCS-2024)”. The workshop, conducted in a hybrid format, aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science in engineering.
The event was inaugurated with lamp lighting by Dr. Poonam Saini, Associate Professor at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, who served as the Guest of Honor, Prof. R.K. Kohli, Patron & Vice Chancellor, Amity University Punjab; Dr. Dalip Kumar, Finance Chair & Registrar, Amity University Punjab; Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Mohana, Advisor & Dean, Amity School of Engineering and Technology; and Dr. Himanshu Jindal, Programme Chair & Head of School, Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Punjab. Dr. Saini as first keynote speaker emphasized on the evolution of Explainable AI and Data Science, from basic systems to advanced machine learning, including ChatGPT, and AI's impact on various fields such as NLP and smart manufacturing.
The workshop featured a lineup of esteemed keynote speakers from both academia and industry. Among them were Dr. Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Associate Professor, ECE Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh; Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Central University of Jammu, J&K; Dr. Rakesh Goyal, Associate Professor, ECE Department, Main Campus, I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala; Dr. Sherin Zafar, Assistant Professor, Computer Science & Engineering Department, School of Engineering Sciences & Technology, Jamia Hamdard University; Mr. Anubhav Pattrick, AI Lead at New Age Technologies, GI Ventures. These experts conducted sessions over the course of five days, offering diverse insights into AI and Data Science.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Monika Bharti (Head of Computer Science & Engineering), Dr. Vishan Kumar Gupta (Head of Animation & Game Design), Dr. Himanshu Verma (Assistant Professor, ASET), and Dr. Neeru Chaudhary (Assistant Professor, ASET).
The workshop attracted over 80 participants from renowned institutions such as Delhi Technological University, University of Delhi, Jamia Hamdard University, SRM University, and Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, among others.
The event concluded with a valedictory session, graced by Mr. Tariq Singh, Competency Head for IoT, Digital, and Platform Engineering at Tech Mahindra, as the Guest of Honor. He focused on understanding the need of Generative AI and looking at the implementation from the industry perspective.
