“Pages and Pals” a book exchange programme on the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day 2024

event

The Library Club of Amity University Punjab organised ‘World Book and Copyright Day’ to commemorate the history and significance of ‘World Book and Copyright Day’, a UNESCO initiative to promote reading, publishing, and the protection of intellectual property through copyright and pays tribute to the contributions of authors, publishers, and other stakeholders in the world of literature.

As the day serves as a reminder of the importance of books as a tool for education, enlightenment, and cultural enrichment an in alignment with this year’s theme “read your way” the Library Club also kick started a new initiative- ‘Pages & Pals’ a book exchange programme for the university community to share the joy of reading aiming for stories to travel from one reader to another and to inspire each other to read, learn, and grow. Participants were encouraged to bring books they were willing to exchange and to explore hidden gems brought in by other fellow students creating a sustainable reading culture and supporting access to books beyond the University library collection. In conclusion the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day was a meaningful event that highlighted the importance of books, intellectual property and respect for authors and their creative works. The launch of 'Pages & Pals' marks a significant step towards promoting a culture of reading, sharing, and community engagement within our university. By participating in this programme, members of the university community can contribute to a richer literary culture while also fostering respect for authors and their creative works.
