Dr. Martin Grossman of Bridgewater State College, USA delivered lecture at Amity University Campus
Dr. Martin Grossman, Asst. Professor, Department of Management, Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater, MA, USA visited Amity University Campus Sector-125, Noida and delivered lecture on topic "Use of IT for Knowledge Management in Business and Industry".
Dr. Grossman talked about Knowledge economy and Knowledge management. He said that getting the right information to the right person at right time to make right decision is knowledge management. Goal of knowledge management is to capture, store, maintain and deliver useful knowledge ina a meaningful form to anyone who needs it, any place and anytime with the organisation.
Knowledge management has a life cycle which includes create, capture, refine, store, manage and disseminate knowledge. Knowledge management system is similar to Database management system (DBMS). Knowledge management is primarily about organisational structure not just about technology. He said that critical role of IT is to provide the infrastructure and to enable knowledge management. He presented a some case studies of campnaies making benefit from knowledge management which includes Siemens, US dept. of Commerce.
Dr. Martin Grossman described some barriers to knowledge management which includes lack of trust, too hard feeling and a feeling of Whats in for me. He also briefed the audience about Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 fundamentals.
