Bollywood stars Neha Dhupia, Jimmi Shergil shines and Sukhbir, Anoushka performes in Fourth Annual Media Fest "The Big Picture"

It was a dream come true for everybody when on the last day of the “Big Picture” the cast and crew of “Delhii Heights” including Jimmy Shergill, Neha Dhupia, and Anand Kumar- Director emanated their radiance among the aficionados. The stars were asked several questions about the story of their new film to which they responded very generously.

The interaction with the stars was followed by a rollicking Star Night “Detonate” featuring live performances by The Prince of Bhangra “Sukhbir Singh” and Pop Singer “Anushka Manchanda” from famous Bollywood pop group VIVA. Lakhs of students thronged the Amity Campus to enjoy the evening. They were enrapt by the electrifying performance of the stars. The singers had the crowd dancing energetically on their numbers and occasionally yodeling `Balle Balle'.

Under “Cine India International Film Festival” several short films and documentaries were screened during the day including “10 Questions to Dalai Lama(USA)”, “Midshot- An Experiment with Truth”, “ Final Solution”, “ Bas Ek Pal” and many more.

In a panel discussion on “ Too many cooks spoil the food” honchos like Mr. Samsheer Rai- first R.J with FM; Mr. Saurav – Radio Mirchi; Mr. Rajeev Krishnan- COO, Radio Dhamaal; Mr. Samiran Gupta- CEO- India beat.in deliberated on the clutter created by the mushrooming of radio channels.

Several inter college competitions like Street Play, Torture Chamber, “Synergy –Choreography”, Media Debate on “Media activism v/s Media Trial” and Copy Writing gave vent to the budding journalists’ creativity and talent. The hard work of the students was fructified during the valediction function when participants were awarded and their glory was crowned. The function was graced by Mr. Govardhan Sharma- Director, Doordarshan; Mr. Onir- Director, “ Bas Ek Pal” Mr. D.K. Aggarwal- Chairman, LVL Builders and Mr. Aseem. Chauhan- Additional President, Amity University.

“Noora” from Iran was given Best Film Award; “AFSPA” from India was awarded Best Documentary Award and “Exploding Buds” from Germany was adjudged as Best Short Film. Jimmy Shergill was given Best Actor (Male) Award for his superb performance in “Bas Ek Pal”

More than 40 colleges and private institutions from all over India paticipated in the media fest including Doaba College, Jalandhar; Guru Nanak Dev University (Regional Campus), Jalandar; Kamla Nehru College, Delhi; St. Stephen’s College, Delhi; Ram Lal Anand College, Delhi; Jesus and Marry College, Delhi; J D Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi; Lisa Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi and Khalsa College, Delhi out of which Doaba College, Jalandar lifted the maximum awards.
