Being organised as a promotion for the big contest - The Amity Grandmasters Challenge, the exhibition was a grand success on all counts. The Amity Grandmasters Challenge is another initiative of Amity's long standing commitment to chess. This 10-day series of matches from December 16-25, 2006 would be between The World's Youngest Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi and The World's Youngest Woman Grandmaster Kateryna Lahno from Ukraine. Parimarjan Negi found a place in chess history by becoming the youngest grandmaster as on date and the second youngest ever in the history of the game. Parimarjan qualified to become the World's youngest grandmaster at 13. He had completed the first two norms at Hastings 2005-2006 and in the Parsvnath Open at New Delhi. The completion of the third GM norm on Saturday, July 1, 2006 during a Grandmasters tournament held in Satka, Russia, made him the second youngest grandmaster ever after Sergey Karjakin of Ukraine. Now, the focus for Negi is to start winning major International titles for his home country. He is an eighth standard student in the Amity International School, Saket.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Atul Chauhan, President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) and Chancellor, Amity University admired the talent and enthusiasm of the participants that emerged through this simultaneous match and vowed to continue the spirit for longer pace. He remarked that best efforts will be initiated to promote country's talent through Amity Chess Academy. India has produced players like Viswanathan Anand and such matches will definitely produce legends affirmed Mr. Chauhan.

The World's Youngest Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi said, "The talent showcased by the people in this friendly match was exemplary. Sportsmanship and teamwork – the qualities required to excel in sports are the same as required to succeed in life. Classroom studies cannot teach what can be learnt from the field. Therefore, parents should contribute towards student’s all-round development recognizing that sporting activities are as necessary as studies. He convincingly said that each one us who have professional competence and result oriented approach would be real go getters and prove to be an asset for any organization. Above all I owe a thanks to Amity for reposing faith in my abilities", said Parimarjan adding that he would do his best in the match against European Women's champion Kateryna Lahno.
