Amity Institute of Education, Saket organized a Roundtable Discussion on a very contemporary theme “Should we introduce corporate culture in schools?” at Amity Campus, Saket, New Delhi in which Principals and teachers from over 50 schools of Delhi shared their views on this subject.

Prof. AK Sharma, Former Director, NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) speaking on the occasion remarked, “It is our goal to go beyond traditional career services by providing our students with the cutting edge competitive advantage and assist them in achieving their professional goals. Students must be given world class business knowledge, practical skills and professional qualifications that will enable them to successfully thrive in their individual destinations. There is no harm in implementing corporate culture in schools provided we are not overstressing our students as we are dealing with children with separate individuality, said Prof. Sharma”.

Prof. SK Thakur, Chairman, NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) while sharing his views on the topic said, “Our speciality is to design individually tailored career strategies hand in hand with our students. Teachers take into consideration students goals and talents and match them to their skills, strengths and weaknesses, creating a feasible strategy to inspire the student to reach all their career objectives. In corporate culture human minds deal with products where as, schools deal with children who have to be nurtured in such a way so that they are capable of handling these products in the corporate world. Teachers while implementing corporate culture must make sure that they develop the intellectual and social aspects of their student’s personality equally.

Sharing few thoughts Ms. Kusum L. Warikoo, Principal, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Estate said, “Corporate culture must not be introduced in schools as in corporate culture work has to be done by hook or crook but in schools we imbibe values, ethics and beliefs in our students. There is lot of bureaucracy and stress in corporate culture but in schools we teach students modern as well as traditional values and teachers are accountable in developing student’s future”

Ms. Bharati Sharma, Principal, Amity International School, Saket felt that corporate culture is easy to comprehend but difficult to define as values, attitude and beliefs exist both in schools and corporate world. The only difference between the two is there is competition in corporate world whereas in schools we prepare students on how to deal with competition and reach the pillars with success.”

Also, officers from the Director General of Resettlement (DGR) office of the fourth batch of the one month course ‘Managing School Administration & Finance’ were awarded Certificates on completion of the course conducted by Amity Institute of Education by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF). Talking about the continuing education of the officers from Director General of Resettlement, he remarked, “This course is of immense value to those officers who want to pursue their career in school administration post retirement”.
