“CULTURAL DIVERSITY – CHALLENGES FOR GLOBAL MANAGERS”

Centre of International Business (CIB), Amity Business School organized a two-Day Management Development Programme on “Cultural Diversity – Challenges for Global Managers” on May 11-12, 2005. In this workshop, Dy. Director General, Centre of International Business, Dr. Gurinder Singh, a Cross Cultural Expert and Specialist edified different management styles practiced in different countries to enable and equip the participants to prepare themselves to face the cultural challenges in the current global scenario.

Demographic shifts in the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan or Spain and increasingly global business interests make cross-cultural global skills critical for success. Training in the area of Cross Cultural Management can give leaders, managers and employees the knowledge and skills to overcome challenges and leverage opportunities in today's dynamic business environment. The workshop was aimed at understanding the fundamentals about culture, its elements and how they manifest. It further dealt with learning new skills and knowledge through live case studies and emphasizing on managerial skills.

Dr. Singh who has a work experience of over 15 years in consultancy, research and teaching deliberated on applying the best practices of Cross-Cultural Management so as to enable a company to increase its profitability, customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction substantially. He further emphasized on the essential information, sensitivity and understanding of cultural differences and how to improve cross-cultural interactions in this era of globalization.
