Awareness Campaign “Say No to Tobacco”

Amity College of Nursing, Amity University Gurgaon organize an awareness Campaign “Say No to Tobacco” on the “World No Tobacco Day” at PHC Bhorakalan, Gurugram on 2nd June 2017 by B.Sc (H) Nursing IV Sem Students under the Supervision and Guidance of Ms. White Rose  (MSN-RNRM Tutor) Community Health Nursing, Amity College of Nursing.

Awareness Campaign was conducted in the form of Role Play & Group Discussion with the aim of increase the awareness about harmful effects of tobacco consumption among community people as majority of smoking related deaths in India occur in the prime working age group of 15–59 years. Smokeless tobacco use is also associated with the increasing risk of cancer. The survey estimated that the tobacco use prevalence among males is at 51.3% and among females it is 10.3%. Tobacco use is a global epidemic and the problem is getting worse rapidly as the tobacco industry penetrates the developing world. There are 1.1 billion tobacco users in the world. This number is expected to increase to 1.6 billion over the next two decades. 100 million people died from tobacco-related diseases in the 20th century.

Hence it’s very important for the public to be aware about the harmful effects of tobacco use. The programme was appreciated by audience and Medical Officer of PHC Bhorakalan, Gurgaon. The programme ended up with oath from the audience of “Say No to Tobacco” and with the slogan to all Audience-“TAMBAKU KO JISNE GALE LAGAYA, MAUT KO USNE PASS BULAYA”.
