Amity School of Engineering and Technology organized a presentation on “Fullbright-Nehru and other fullbright Fellowships for Indian Citizens” in co-ordination with USIEF (United States-India Educational Foundation) on 22nd February,2017 (Wednesday) at Amity University Gurgaon. USIEF is an International foundation- dedicated to higher education in India and the United States with the help of full-bright grants, fellowships, teacher exchange programs and New Century Scholars program.
Prof. Dr. Priti Singh extended a floral welcome to the esteemed guest Ms. Pratibha Nair, Program Co-ordinator, USIEF- New Delhi. Ms. Nair currently handles grants for doctoral students and Humphrey fellows at USIEF. She delivered a presentation on various fellowships, discussed various successful stories of Full-brighters and interacted with faculty and students.
The purpose of the event was to confer and discuss various full-bright fellowships provided by USIEF (United States-India Educational Foundation) to researchers, faculty and students of India to pursue doctorate, post-doctorate, teaching associate and other higher studies & research opportunities.
In the session, Ms. Pratibha Nair gave a presentation on the distinctive sectors of working of USIEF alongwith Full-bright Nehru and other Full-bright fellowship opportunities provided to doctoral, post-doctoral and senior professors for carrying out research as well as teaching in different Universities of USA depending upon the field of study. She cited examples and achievements of recent full-brighters coming from different fields and Universities/colleges of India and stressed upon the fact that prospective applicants of the fellowships should focus on the relevance of field while applying for U.S. Universities/colleges and must get in touch with the professors even before preparing the proposal. In the discussion forum, Faculty and researchers posed questions about the selection criteria of applications for the fellowships as well as related examinations such as -TOFEL and also Visa related issues.
Ms. Pratibha Nair promised to share the details of Fullbrighters in the field of environment, audiometry, optometry etc. through which Amity University can expand its professional network and draw benefits of outreach programs.
Overall, it was a great experience for the bright researchers of Amity University to get insights on fully funded Fullbright fellowships of USIEF and generated new zeal and enthusiasm amongst everyone.
