Prof (Dr.) V. L Chopra addressed the gathering on adaptive features of plants to environment. He elaborated that how various plants develop adaptive features like small leaves, shedding of roots and leaves, long roots which help them to live in worst and arid conditions.

Dr. Pradip Srivastav, Senior Principal Scientist and Deputy Director at Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow. He introduced a new topic “BIONICS” learning from nature where he discussed how nature of plants and animals has inspired our scientist in developing new things. He talked about Kingfisher bird for inspiring us to design bullet train; New Mercedes Benz bionic car inspired by boxer fish body; snail internal structure for designing of Aero plane turbines; combat automobile which covers less space for parking was inspired by Armadillo etc. Participants enjoyed the session a lot and thanked him for making them aware with “Sciencetoons”.

Dr. Hari Om Gupta, Retd. Head Dept. of Secondary Education and Workshop, NCERT. He discussed  on “Mysterious changing colors of Chemicals” how dye helps in identifying acid and base. He also shared an interesting factor how chameleon changes its color according to its surroundings.

K Bhatnagar(Professor, Deptt. of Botany, Delhi University) was conducted by on “Climate Change” where he discussed the causes of climate changes, national plan on climate change, India’s role in carbon-dioxide emission, effect of climate change in human health, effect of climate change on phenology of plants.

“Astronomy and Space Science”. The workshop started with a technical knowhow session on How to build Rocket and Launch it with common utensils used in our kitchen and a pressure machine. Initially there were detailed discussion on the origin and history of rocketry and how does a rocket fly? The speaker explained about the Newton’s 3rd law of motion. Miniature rockets made of plastic bottles and paper cones were given to groups of students and were provided materials for the designated experiment. With their combined efforts they launched the “Rockets’.
