Guest lecture by Prof. H.S. Savithri on Viruses as “ Nano- Carriers”
A Guest lecture of Prof. H.S. Savithri, Postdoctoral Research, Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science, India. 1977, Department of Chemistry, Purdue University, U.S.A. 1978-1981was organized by Amity Institute of Biotechnology on understanding of Viruses as “ Nano- Carriers”. She discussed about her research on plant viruses and their use as nano-carriers for targeting cancer cells. Virus like particles (VLPs) serves as excellent model systems to identify pathways of virus assembly.
In her talk she also mentioned different types of viruses and brief about their functioning. The research on their possible use in biomedical applications is in progress. . Prof Savithri visited the teaching and Research laboratories and interacted with the faculty and the students.
