Amity School of Liberal Arts, Amity University Gurgaon organized seminar on Tagore, Nature and Culture; Rediscovering the Roots of Gitanjalii on 19th Sept 2016   by Prof Uday Narayan Singh. the former Pro. Vice Chancellor of Viswabharti University, Calcutta. 

The objective of the talk was  to create awareness among the young audience  about the significance and contribution of Tagore to the Indian and world scholarship .  Prof Singh focused on the growth and development of Tagore's poetry, drama, music and paintings. He also traced the growth and development of Gitanjali for which Tagore was given the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913.

Prof Singh talked about the different translations of Tagore's Gitanjaili in the past one hundred years. The learned professor also mentioned about the influence of Tagore's Gitanjali on the Chinese culture. Prof Singh also mentioned about his own translation of Tagore's Gitanjali in which, as he said, he has included those Bengali poems of Gitanjali which others had not included.
