Amity School of Communication, Gurgaon organized Workshop on Online Content writing and editing

Amity School of Communication Amity University Gurgaon Organized Workshop on Online Content writing and editing by Tisha Srivastava, Communication Consultant on 24th August 2016. The session started with the unique set of exercises she conducted amongst the students present sharing anecdotes from her life.

The workshop awakened the curiosity in doing simple things like sharing about the person next to us. Most wrote, some wrote about the empty chair and space another made a video on his friend! While sharing this exercise She asked students to be curious about everything in life as a journalist! She spoke of New Media, how important it is and how it has evolved and brought a whole new revolution in the world of communication and journalism. She said, "Everything nowadays is media, and each one of us is a content creator.” she explained how important it is for us to become "ATTENTIVE" and “ALERT".

As the clock ticked amongst imaginations, translations, funny stories and feedbacks the interaction took a sociological angle around the terms "BIAS" and 'SOURCES'. Ms. Srivastav  made the students understand the importance of these two terms through an interactive exercise she conducted where every student wrote about two topics, "The Chowkidar at a forest- guesthouse" or a "Pundit in Kedarnath" She asked each one of them to write at least a 100 word article on any one of these two topics under the given 10 minutes of time. The exercise turned out to be working on the intellect of the students, where each understood the importance of 'sources' and why “sources” are important to journalists and what does bias actually means and how it creeps into our life.

The concluding session emphasized on understanding  the need of 'making your own difference' through the responsibility each one of us has towards the society.

At last, the session finished with an exercise where the students were asked to give '5 headlines ' in a time duration of 10 minutes for different platforms; the print headline, the web story, the twitter#, the Facebook from day's newspaper. Overall, Session was interactive and ended with vote of thanks.
