Moot Court Society of Amity Law School, Gurgaon organized 1st Parliamentary Debate Competition

Moot Court Society of Amity Law School, Gurgaon organized 1st Amity Parliamentary Debate Competition on 29TH August 2016 .The topic of the debate was Torture of Prevention Bill. The competition was framed to give an exposure to the students regarding the British Model Parliamentary Debate. Each team comprised of four members. One team represented the government and the opposition was represented by other. Around 60 students participated for the competition, and after competing in for 2 days the best two teams made their way to finals.

The final was held in the Moot Court on August 29, 2016 and the bill was discussed convincingly by both the opposition as well as government.  Various incidents related to custodial torture and barbarous acts of public servants were brought into light and the bill was judged on those touchstones. The opposition team won the competition and was awarded with the winner’s certificate.
