Educational Visit To Ahura Support - A charitable Trust

Students from ''Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied sciences'' had been for a visit to Ahura Support. Ahura Support is a registered charitable trust focusing on people with special needs with a holistic three-pronged approach to better the lives of people who are mentally and developmentally challenged.A support group for Unprevildged people with special needs in Gamdevi, Mumbai was conducted where 30 graduate and postgraduate Psychology students from AIBAS, took part in it.

 

A lecture on the "Intellectual deficiency and rehabilitation" was conducted by the center In-charge, Ms. Farah Doodhwala  (Psychologist) and Dr. Vispi Jokhi.

 

 

An Interaction session with the rehabilitation center inmates was also arranged for the students to give insight into the difficulties they faced, their capabilities, the mental well being and skill enhancement. The visit was a path breaking activity for the students as this was the first time they went into the real field and understood the role of a Psychologist in bringing meaning to the peoples' life.The aim of the visit was to give exposure and practical experience to the Psychology students on "Vocational Rehabilitation of the adults with special needs". 

 

There are 12  Adults with special needs who are getting benefited from the support centre and living meaningful life.
