Amity Institute of Biotechnology organized a talk by Dr. Sabareesh V On “Mass spectrometry of peptides and lipids” on 08th April, 2016

Amity Institute of Biotechnology organized a guest lecture on peptides and lipids on 8th april 2016 by Dr. Sabareesh of IISc, Bangalore. He earned his Doctoral degree in Molecular Biophysics Unit (MBU), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Karnataka. He is recipient of Prof. B.H. Iyer Medal for best Ph.D thesis within MBU, IISc for 2007-08 on March 2009 Currently he is working at Advance Centre for Bio Separation Technology (CBST), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University, Vellore,Tamil,Nadu.

Dr. Sabareesh presented applying mass spectrometric methods for investigating a variety of biomolecules. Biological processes and transformations are concurrent with alterations of chemical properties, implying molecular modifications. Therefore, characterization of biomolecules provides clues to comprehend biological events. Sensitivity and ability to directly investigate crude mixtures are a few merits that render mass spectrometry more useful than other techniques to study biomolecules. Over all Session was interactive for the students of Biotechnology and research scholars. Session ended with vote of thanks from Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Director- AIB
