The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is a 9 day-long event taking place in the month of February every year. The festival comprises of various sections like Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Theatre, Cinema, Literature, Photography, Urban Design and Architecture.Coming to Mumbai and not attending the Kala Ghoda Festival is an opportunity lost and we certainly didn’t want our students to miss it.

50 students from Amity School of Communication along with 2 faculties were up for this “Edutainment Trip” to Kala Ghoda Festival 2016.

Read more to experience the festival through the eyes of one of our student :-

“It was an experience of bonhomie starting with impressive statues made of circular rings like man, horse at the entrance gate. Then as I started exploring the encircle I found stalls of different states, creativity of artists in painting, colorful clothes, pots etc. On the opposite side there was a Waste Management Innovation by student with a “Pipe instrument” which attracted passerby’s with the tap beating sound and an individual playing it with zeal as spectators rhyming with him. An old man dancing made the whole set up even more alive.

As I moved ahead, in the midst, there was a huge sparkling colour Fish made up of different hard but flexible material that were shining in the sun and making one’s creativity more beautiful.

Some steps further, I saw a mid-size “Eiffel Tower” where people were placing hanging locks of cardboards in a memory of “Paris Attack”.

Next I see photographs which displayed a variety of emotions in each of it. Behind there were little stalls of paintings, posters, wooden accessories jingling with the breeze and shining.

There was something for everyone at the Kala Ghoda Festival. There were Music Concerts, Children’s Literature, Food, Dance, Heritage Walks, Street Performance, Theatre, Urban Design and Architecture, Visual Arts, Workshops on different fields and a new addition ‘Make in India’.

Kala Ghoda Festival was a very memorable experience for me where knowledge, creativity, opinions, togetherness of various worlds of different fields culminates and imparts a new experience to an individual and to a student and it’s worth it!
