Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes Lecture on “Disaster Management and Communication”

Eco-club Amity University Gwalior celebrated its 2nd anniversary on 17th February 2016. The program included two events- a lecture on Disaster Management and Communication and a skit. The event was attended by the first year students of all the departments. The event started with the floral welcome of the invited guest, Mr Jayant S Bhide, a reputed professional member of disaster communication by Hon’ble Vice-chancellor Lt.Gen. V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd) and Prof. S P Bajpai, Chairman Eco-club.

The first event was a skit performed by the members of the club. The theme of the skit was “Nature Vs. Human”. The skit showed the evolution of human beings and their story of struggle for survival. It also depicted the increasing greed of human beings and how it is destroying Nature. The skit was acted, narrated and directed by the club members.

The second event was the lecture on disaster communication by Mr Bhide, President of Amateur Radio Club, Gwalior. Mr Bhide with more than 35 years of experience in providing disaster communication enlightened the audience with his words and knowledge. The lecture was based on the use of HAM Radio in case of disasters. Mr. Bhide also elaborated on how the radio can act like a boon in case of failure of available traditional forms of communication. The session ended with the question-answer round where the audience interacted directly with Mr Bhide.

The event concluded with a vote of tanks proposed by Mr.Pankaj Kumar, President Eco-club. Mr. Kumar expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the club towards the invited guest, Administration and ASCO team. He informed the audience that the club will keep on organizing popular events like surveys, street plays & skits for bringing about awareness in this society.
