REPORT ON FICCI India Innovation Growth Program Delhi

The Tie Silicon Valley Startup Leaders Meet was held as a part of the India Innovation Growth Program (IGP) at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi on 15th January 2016. Amity University Haryana was one of the invitees for this event, due to Amity’s prominent presence in the fields of educational policy-makers, startup leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.

 

A team of five faculty members from Amity University Haryana were deputed as delegates by Hon Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. P B Sharma to represent the laudable research and skill development being carried out by Amity School of Engineering & Technology. The faculty delegates included Dr. Shiv Sharma, Mr. Yashil Handa, Mr. Tejender Rawat, Ms. Ulya Sabeel and Mrs. Yojna Arora. The team was representative of an eclectic research mix including members from department of Mechanical, Biomedical, Electronics and Computer Science engineering.

 

The key areas of the event were inspiring India’s youth towards entrepreneurship, handholding technical startups, B2B interaction with entrepreneurs who have innovative ideas and providing a platform for investor-startup brainstorming. Mr Nirankar Saxena, Senior Director, FICCI was the moderator of the event that housed nearly 30 senior investors from Indian and US origin who are active venture capitalists in Silicon Valley projects.

 

Special addresses by eminent dignitaries included Mr Saurabh Shrivastava (Co-founder- NASSCOM), Mr. Ullas Kamath (Managing Director- Jyothy Laboratories Limited), Mr. George Sibley (Minister-Counselor U.S. Embassy), Mr. Kanwal Rekhi (MD- RAND Corporation) and Mr. Venkatesh Shukla (President, TiE Silicon Valley)

 

The addresses were inspiring and evoked a sense of “Make in India” in each of the audience members. The event concluded with one to one investor startup interactions in the form of B2B meetings. It will be organized more often to attract the youth and inspire them to create jobs rather than find them.
