Amity Law School, Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes the First Mock Parliament

Amity Law School (ALS), Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior organized the first Mock Parliament in its Moot Court on 26th November 2015 the First Constitution Day earlier known as Law Day.

In the inauguration of the Mock Parliament, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd.) emphasized the role of the Constituent Assembly and asked the students of Amity Law School to follow the noble ideals of this grand document in letter & spirit.

The Proceedings of the Mock Parliament commenced with the Presidential Address to the Parliament Session.  The President explained to the august House the political changes the Nation had witnessed in the recent past with the installation of new Government at the Centre.  The Hon’ble President had drawn attention of the Members of Parliament to the danger the whole world was facing now referring to the attacks by the terrorists in Paris by the ISIS. 

The President also referred to the economic situation and the healthy GDP.  The President  referred to the inflationary conditions and drew the attention of the House to the import of pulses to meet the demand in the market.  He also referred to the Government seriously pursuing transparency and welfare in Governance of the Nation.

The students of Amity Law School actively participated in the Mock Parliament during the zero hour, question hour and the discussion of the bills.  They discussed several relevant issues pertaining to inflation, Paris terrorist attacks, safety of women, Dadri lynching etc.

The students of Amity Law School also debated the controversial Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill and passed the said Bill in the amended form. This event showed the concern of Amity Law School towards the challendges before the Indian democracy.
