AMITY SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING STUDENTS ATTENDED CONFERENCE AT CHANDIGARH

Amity school of Architecture and Planning, AUH participated International Le Corbusier conference at Chandigarh.  To acquaint students with different ideas and views of national and international level legendary architects of past and present. Also for an exposure of students towards viewpoint of different renowned architects on le Corbusier works in Chandigarh. Moreover, to keep the students inspired as future architects; through hands-on experience of world-wide activities in the field of Architecture. Interesting Topics like Views of renowned national and international architects on the works and design concepts of a legendary architect: Le Corbusier .Study of works of Le Corbusier .Basic understanding of urban planning; case of Chandigarh.

On First Day, Student learned about themes of the conference which was “Capitol Complex- Chandigarh’s Crowning Glory Restored”, “Le Corbusier: the Timeless in the Modern”, “Le Corbusier in India: Architect of Modernism”, “Chandigarh’s Heritage is World Heritage” and “Chandigarh’s Road Ahead: Garden City to Smart City”. The students and faculty listened to speeches of eminent national and international architects such as B.V. Doshi, Raj Rewal, William JR Curtis and Jacques Sbriglio.

Next day, Students got acquainted with important information on International Symposium on Le Corbusier through presentations on Impacting Post-Independence Indian Architecture’ by Raj Rewal ,Le Corbusier and the question of Brutalism’ by Jacques Sbriglio on the same day student visited and study the Government Museum & Art Gallery, the Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Portraits and Chandigarh Architecture Museum designed by Le Corbusier. The major outcomes from this conference were having exposure to the ideas and views of renowned national and international architects such as B.V.Doshi, Raj Rewal and William JR Curtis. Observation and understanding of the architecture of Le-Corbusier Art Gallery and Museum. Hence, getting an understanding and study of the techniques of gallery and museum design with day-lighting, simplicity, flow as well as proportions. All Students were excited to experience this Conference.
