A Report on   

Celebration of Breast Feeding Week
 

To celebrate Breast Feeding Week, a Group Project was organized by the students of B.Sc. Nursing 5th Semester under the supervision of Ms. Roseline Soren and Ms. Manita Dalal, Assistant Professor, Amity College of Nursing.

Objectives 

To make the mothers understand the importance of breast feeding and exclusive breast feeding.,To convince the mothers to practice early EBF within ½ hour of delivery to babies irrespective of their gender, To prevent the newborns from acquiring early childhood illness and thereby early neonatal death, To demonstrate proper techniques of breast feeding to the mothers.

The programme started at 9:30 am with the introductory address by Mr. Siddhartha (B.Sc. Nursing 5th(Semester) to the target audience present in the maternity ward.  The title and the theme of the event was introduced to the audience with the help of a chart and a speech by Siddhartha.  The various aspects of Breast feeding were covered by the students with the help of beautiful and comprehensive Audio-visual aids. Individualized teaching and demonstration with the help of doll were given by the students to the mothers in the maternity ward. The following aspects were covered by the students during the programme: Exclusive Breast feeding ,Positions of Breast feeding, Technique of Breast feeding, Constituents of Breast Milk, Different forms of Breast Milk, Benefits of Breast feeding to Mother, Benefits of Breast milk to child and community. The post teaching session was conducted and all the queries of the audience were answered. The participants expressed that the health education was very informative and highly beneficial to them. Efforts of students were acknowledged by the staff of the maternity ward. The session ended at 11 am with a vote of thanks by the group.
