Medical and Wellness Tourism Summit 2015 Destination Brand India

PhD Chamber of Commerce organized Medical and Wellness Tourism Summit 2015 on 27th August 2015 from 10.00 am to 6.30 pm at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Faculty from Amity University Gurgaon was invited to attend the summit and AUG students were invited to participate in the presentation competition which was a part of the summit. AUG students brought laurels to the University by winning two prizes in the competition.

Event was inaugurated at 10.00 am with welcome address by Mr Gopal Jiwarajka, Vice President, PHD Chamber and inaugural address by chief guest Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, Government of India. Special addresses were delivered by eminent personalities from Medical and Wellness Industry including Ambassadors of Poland and Romania in New Delhi. Inaugural session ended up with vote of thanks by Mr Yogesh Srivastav, Director, PHD Chamber.

There were three technical sessions in the event. Technical session I started at around 12.30 pm. Theme of the session was “ Encouraging Medical Tourism in India- Opportunities & Challenges” and it was chaired by Mr. Vijay Mehta, Chairman Tourism Committee, PHD Chamber. There were six presentations by eminent experts from Medical, wellness and tourism industry. Session was followed by networking lunch from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm. Technical session II started at around 3.00pm and it was based on the theme “Popularizing India as wellness Tourism Hub”. Session was chaired by Mr. Anand Kumar, IAS, MD-NHIDCL. Renowned experts from wellness industry presented their views on booming medical and wellness sector in India. Session ended up with 10 minutes question and answer session to answer to different queries raised by delegates.

Technical session III started at around 4.00 pm and theme of the session was “Destination Brand India- Adapting Global Best Practices” chaired by Mr Vika Khanduri, Chief Executive Officer, Holiday Merchants.  After several rounds of presentations and discussions by experts, session was followed by a presentation competition. Theme of the competition was “How India is going to be one of the Global hubs with respect to wellness industry.” Several teams from different Universities and institutes from all over India participated in the competition. Ms. Aarushi from AMS and Ms. Nalini from ASH, jointly represented AUG in the competition under the guidance of Ms. Puneeta Ajmera, AP-II from AMS and Mr. Akshay Nain from ASH. Ms. Aarushi was adjudged as the best orator among all the participants and she was awarded with individual trophy and certificate. AUG team emerged as second runner up in the competition and students received individual certificates. Summit ended up with vote of thanks by Mr Yogesh Srivastav, Director, PHD Chamber.
