v  Mr. Satish Kumar, Principal Advisor & Former Director, DMRC

A Guest Lecture talk was organized for the Freshers of Batch 2015 on on 29th July 2015. Mr. Satish Kumar who was inviated speaker. Mr Kumar has been conferred with many national and international honors during the last 12 years, including Eminent Engineer’s award (2008) and Life Time Award (2012) by ITE, UK, Delhi Branch, Global Alumni Award by Delhi Technological University (2012)” and Lifetime Achievement Award by “The Institution of Engineers (India) Delhi State (2013) and by Honorable Minister, MOUD, GOI, in 2002. He obtained his BEE in 1965(Jan) from Delhi University, Delhi College of Engineering and continuing education in profession of various short term courses including courses on Strategic Management by Manchester University in UK and on course In Canada by AMA on Management etc. He gave a detailed explanation on the Delhi Metro, and told that about 190 km of Metro Network is in operation by DMRC including connections to Gurgaon, Noida and Airport. Delhi Metro was registered in UN under the Clean Development Mechanism for reduction of carbon emission on account of regeneration of energy with regenerative braking. He focused on the Regenerative Braking Technology employed in DMRC (2001) which is different from the prevalent system adopted by the other metro systems in the country (Kolkata) which uses conventional electro dynamic Rheostatic Braking System. In March, 2010 DMRC bagged the ‘Most Improved Metro’ Award at the 3rd Metro Awards Ceremony held in London. He further highlighted on the safety measures adopted in Delhi Metro and stated that DMRC has been making operational profit since inception. Mr. Satish Kumar presented the glimpses of innovations done by DMRC, the shortcomings encountered in the development of each phase and measures adopted to enhance efficiency and remove the shortcomings in coming phases. He also discussed on numerous opportunities which can be availed by young talented minds.
