Health is Wealth Check up Camp for International Students

A Health is Wealth Checkup Camp was organized by Office of International Affairs and the team, headed by Prof. (Dr) Gunjan M Sanjeev on 10th Oct 2014, for the International students in Amity University, Haryana. The aim of this event was to sensitize the students about the importance of health, the food and nutrition requirements in their body and the appropriate assessment of their nutritional status which would help in determining their present health status.

The Registration was open for about a week before the final camp and the response by the students was very good. Also some of the international students registered on the spot at the event. The event was conducted in the Seminar Hall A-Block from 12noon -2:00pm.

The event started with a welcome note by Dr. Gunjan M Sanjeev for the students, who participated in the event very enthusiastically and in large numbers. It was followed by their health checkups, in which certain parameters were measured by the international office bearers under the supervision of the faculty team members. Students were examined for parameters such as: - Height, Weight, Body Mass Index, Heart-Rate, etc. Dietary and other advice was given & written by Ms. Avneet Kaur Oberoi (Assistant Professor -AMS)

A very interesting and motivating presentation on general health & well being was also delivered by Ms. Avneet Kaur which explained students about the benefits of healthy eating habits, pro & cons of different food groups and how a state of positive health can be achieved and maintained by following a healthy life-style with balanced diet.

The presentation was followed by an interactive and curious Questions and Answers session where students asked about their health and corrective measures to be taken. Students enjoyed the session, which was quite evident by the numbers in which students turned up.

Approximately more than 60 International Students participated in the event. The Health checkup Camp was continued even after the presentation. The event was ended with some healthy refreshments for the students (juices and fruits). Students thanked the whole International Affairs Team and office bearers to make it a great success.
