Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

A workshop on “Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” was organized on March 3, 2015 in Multipurpose Hall, Auditorium Block, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow campus, India. This Workshop was an initiative under the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Amity Innovation facilitation centre (IFC) scheme. It was expected that during the operation of scheme, new ideas would be generated in consultation with all stakeholders in the country which shall be shared with NRDC from time to time. Around 60 participants (including faculties and PG level students) participated in this workshop. The guest speakers for this workshop were senior scientists of national research laboratories. The key aspects discussed were following: i. Understanding key aspects on the Intellectual Property Rights. ii. Learning how to protect one’s ideas and Innovations. iii. Having an insight on managing Patents and other IP wealth. iv. Understanding Patent procedure from filing to grant in India. Following guest speakers as well as speckers from Amity spoke on the topic: • Dr. Ramesh Srivastava, Sr. Principal Scientist, Fragrance and Flavour Development Research institute, Kannauj, UP, • Dr. Vinay Tripathi, Sr. Principal Scientist, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, • Dr. Rajinder Kumar Diwan, Addl. Director, DITT, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, • Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Sr. Scientist, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Lucknow, • Dr H K Dwivedi, Director, Amity School of Applied Sciences , Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus. The workshop was well attended by the students and faculty members. This was reflected in terms of their urge for more of such events.
