11 Apr 2014|Gurgaon (Manesar) | VISIT TO GOONJ NGO AND SWAMINARAYAN AKSHARDHAM TEMPLE IN DELHI BY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Excursion Trip for International Students of Amity University Gurgaon

Office of International Affairs at Amity University Haryana organized a one day excursion on 11, April 2014, Thursday for the international students. Around 40 students from 12 different countries, namely Nepal, Afghanistan, Congo, etc. participated in this event. They visited Goonj (an NGO) and Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Delhi. The basic objective of this excursion was to give them some glimpses of India. The visit to the NGO sensitized the students for better usage of waste material and how this can be used as an instrument of social empowerment and a source of infrastructure development.

Some of the international students expressed that once they go back to their own countries, they wish to execute similar practices for rural masses for their betterment.  It was also intended through this excursion to give these students exposure to the beauty and strengths in architectural domain in India. While all of them enjoyed the beauty of this magnificent structure, few students pursuing their degree in architecture gained immensely by looking into the intricacies of the state of art architecture at the Akshardham temple. The international students enjoyed this event thoroughly.
