World Tourism Day Celebration by Amity Institute of Travel And Tourism
The United Nations World Tourism Organisaton (UNWTO) celebrates 27th September as ‘World Tourism Day’ annually. There is a specific theme each year as prescribed the UNWTO. The theme for the year 2018 was ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’. As part of these celebrations, Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism (AITT) organizes various events every year. This year, the students and faculty of AITT had organized an exhibition showcasing the culture of the extremely technologically advanced nation of Japan, in the context of tourism. There were two competitions organized – A Travel Photography Competition and ‘InQuizitive’ which was a Travel Quiz for the students of Amity University Mumbai. A documentary of ‘Amazing Travel Facts’ was screened at the venue, and a Souvenir Shop was also organized where in hand made souvenirs were displayed.
Approximately 150 people visited the exhibition (including faculty, students, non-teaching staff). 30 students from AUM participated in the Quiz Competition held in the Seminar Hall. A total of 68 students from AITT were present for organizing the event.
