Guest Lecture on “Insight into the invasion pathways and organelle dynamics of Malaria parasite.”

Guest lecture on “Insight into the invasion pathways and organelle dynamics of Malaria parasite” was organized by Amity Institute of Biotechnology of Amity University Gurugram on 8th January, 2018 by Dr Sumit Rathore (Assistant Professor All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi).

In his welcome address, Dr Rajendra Prasad briefed about the achievement of Dr Sumit Rathore and said that Dr Rathore did his PhD from ICGEB as CSIR fellow and worked on Plasmodium vivax. He has been working on different aspects of Plasmodium and host interaction with an aim to discover suitable drug target. Dr Rathore is an accomplished researcher having several international publications. His work has attracted funding from DBT-Bill Gates Foundation, DBT-CNRS, France etc. He was also anINSA INSPIRE faculty.
Dr Rathore begins his session with a presentation of his research work titled “Insight into the invasion pathways and organelle dynamics of malaria parasite”. He talked about the identification of receptors on host erythrocytes that help Plasmodium to invade the host. Identification of these receptors and understanding their interaction with the parasites will help in designing drugs against the parasite.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Krishna Murari Sinha.
