Academic visit to the launch of anti human trafficking campaign “Be alert, raise alarm”

On 17th March 2017, the facultiesand the students of Amity Law School, Amity University Kolkata organised anacademic visit to the launch of an anti human trafficking campaign “Be alert,raise alarm”, organised by The US Consul General Kolkata in collaboration withKolkata based social enterprise BanglaNatokdotcom and Delhi based NGO SaktiBahini with support from West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCRP)and West Bengal Police. The event took place in Biswa Bangla Haat in Eco Park,Kolkata to promote the initiatives of preventing Human trafficking inIndia .

There were enlightening speeches by theChairperson of WBCRP Ms Ananya Chakraborty, Hon'ble Minister of Child WelfareWest Bengal Dr Sashi Panja and Mr Craig L.Hall the U.S. Counsellor General followedby a brilliant set of enacted plays by BanglaNatokdotcom and an outstandingartistic exhibition of the culture of 'Gram Bangla'. Spreading awareness anddeveloping a preventive approach rather than punitive approach against HumanTrafficking is the main aim of this campaign.

The program ended with a street play organisedby BanglaNatokdotcom which will be played and enacted through differentdistricts of West Bengal to spread awareness among the common people of thedifferent ways and facets of human trafficking. It was a great experience tothe students and a huge motivation to be a part of the campaign and fightagainst the increasing challenge against human Trafficking.
