Amity University Madhya Pradesh organizes a “Self Composed Poetry Recitation” on 21 February, 2017

Ref UGC letter D.O. F.1-1/2015 (Secy.), Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated 21 Feb 2017 as Matrubhasha Diwas. On this occasion a Self Composed Poetry Recitation Competition   in Mother Tongue (Hindi or other) was organized for the students of the University by the Literary Club.

The first round screening of the participants was conducted on 15 Feb 2017 in which 37 students took part. Out of these 20 students were selected for the final round of the competition.  The selection was based on mainly four criteria i.e., content, presentation, originality and, creativity.  Dr. Vinod Bhatt, Associate Professor, Amity School of Languages and Dr. Sudha Mishra, Assistant Professor, Amity System of Communication Enhancement and Transformation were the judges of the Screening Round.

The final round of the Self Composed Poetry Recitation Competition was conducted on 21 Feb 2017. The programme started at 3.00 pm in the Moot Court Block - B. Beauty is the realm of poetry.  The audience enjoyed the beauty of expression, thoughts, feeling, rhyme, rhythm and music of words of the poems being recited by the participants.  The participants chose a variety of topics for their recitation like patriotism, motherhood, beauty, love, female foeticide, tears, and unity in diversity etc. The parameters for evaluation for the event were:   Content, Presentation,Originality and Creative expression.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Amity University Lt Gen V K Sharma gave away the prizes of the competition. Rishabh Sharma from BJMC IV bagged the first prize; the second position was won by Mr. Mayank Pandey from BJMC IV semester and Mr Amit Upadhya from Civil Engineering VIII semester got the third position. The Hon’ble Judges of the competition were  Dr. Manisha Singh Associate Professor,Physics and Mr. Mohit Sharma, Off HoI ALS were. Col S. K. Sethi, Director,Administration and Dr. Iti Roychowdhury, Dy. DSW, AUMP, members of faculty of ASCENT/ASL, Amity Law School, Dy Dir, CRC were the guests at the programme.

The competition showcased the talent of students at poetry composition and recitation as also the immense love and comfort in communication that each one of us has in our mother tongue.
